I'm still around and I'm still playing SC because I haven't managed to order DW yet. This place has sure slowed down, but 96% of the guys who used to be here are over in the DW forum. I'm getting DW soon, but until theres an SCU for DW, I'll still play Sub Command. |

I still pop in to lurk every now and then. I've been developing for Project Phoenix Flight Simulator over the past year and a half, so my SC work has kind of been back burnered. I have a bunch of modded USNI files that I never had a chance to submit. If anyone wants to host, I'll see if I can dig them up.
Regarding DW, is it a step forward in fidelity compared to SCX IIc? I'm concerned it will focus even more on "modern" platforms and scenarios and neglect the 1970-1989 timefirme I like to develop in. |

I won't be going anywhere. Had the oportunity to try DW at a friends house, and while I admit the new platforms are intriguing, the realism of SC still hasn't come close to being replaced. When that day comes, I might jump ship, but not today.
While I admit I haven't played much Sub Command in recent months, I still hop back into the odd Permit or Sturgeon (USS Pogy is still my boat), and I've always loved to tweak things here and there to see what results I get. Adding new sounds has become a common past time for me, too. My SSF file is getting pretty large, and once in awhile I'll add a sound that makes the file crash the game, and I have to remove it. Just about every Soviet, U.S., British, Chinese, French, and Indian vessel in my database has it's own unique sound, which makes identifying ships a little more interesting, and gets you listening with headphones alot more.
Can't wait to try out a new Cold War campaign, extatic to hear that one is in the works.
Cheers, it's nice to pop the scope up and see who's around every once in awhile. |
