I just finished the novel, "Sharks and Little Fish: A Novel of German Submarine Warfare", by Wolfgang Ott. Here's what Amazon says about it:
This raw, brawling novel, first published in 1957, is a fiercely realistic account of naval combat during World War II--in particular, the hell that was Nazi submarine warfare. "A German counterpart to The Caine Mutiny" (Frederic Morton), SHARKS AND LITTLE FISH is based on the author's own experiences as a young submariner.
This book is about U-boats, the way 'Catch 22' is about B-25 bombers. I liked it a lot.
Of course, THE U-boat novel has to be "The Boat", by Lothar-Gunther Buchheim. |

My next book review should help you:
With Honor in Battle by JT McDaniel
A good "what-if" centering on a single Walter boat that makes it into the war with a determined and moral captain.
Not bad, was a good read; guy did all right, didn't try to overreach.
