This book is about the life on a nuclear submarine (Permit class) in the mid 80. The author was reponsible of the quality control of the water of the nucleat power plant but also to make pictures during spec ops.
In this book we learn a lot about the life in the sub , each chapter is about a particular point of the sub life : sleeping, food, shower, works, fire, recreation and so but the author write also on spec ops during a mission near kamchatka and the danger of this kind of job.
This book is one of the two wrote by a submariner about submarine wtih some sense of humor the only thing I have to regret is the use and abuse of abreviations : like I told to EWS to see the ASMW for ORTE (well i exagerare just a bit, but i have to refer to the appendixes to understand what it mean).
I haven't yet finished to read it (jsut a the middle of the book) but now i ave a better idea about the life in US nuke sub .
