privateers bounty - age of sail 2 - battles dont start

Hello

I have just got privateers bounty age of sail2, and I cannot get any of the battles or campaigns to start - it just stays at the loading screen,

I have the latest patch and am using windows xp with SP2

ATI 9600

Direct x 9c

512 mb of ram

any ideas what is happening?

Try Windows 98 compatibiliy mode - I had the same problem with XP Pro SP1
