I watched on italian tv some episodes of these twin serials.

JAG is about militar justice, Navy NCIS about militar investigations; two different tales, with some interaction between characters.

I found them interesting: what's your opinion? are they realistic?

Personally I love these two shows, but they are a bit unrealistic. (USN Lawyers do NOT fight terrorists in South America with a Biplane!!) A lot of the cases on JAG are based on real world events, and are researched well.

Its good show (especially compared to all this “reality” TV crap), but don’t take it too seriously.

JAG is now in it's tenth season. Yes, I like it a lot. No, it's not realistic...but it is fun.

NCIS is new, and entertaining; but then, I'm biased-I'm a David McCallum fan ever since The Man From Uncle and The Great Escape. I don't think realism should ever be expected from a TV series.

Thanks to everybody.

I too think that, in JAG, the action side is often excessive; it adds something to the fun, but I feel more credible the episodes focused on legal problems.

Did you ever see the episode titled "JAG TV"? They had her trying an important case, which was televised. It was being analysed by TV lawyers, and at one point the moderator showed a picture of her in a bikini, and said "She may be a marine colonel, but we think she's a major babe!".

If you really like Catherine Bell, try to see the old HBO series Dream On, specifically the episode "Those Who Can't, Edit".

Then you'll really be in your bunk!

I love them both.
JAG is my favourite show, sure it is unrealistic with lawyers doing all sorts of heroic deeds but if they were to keep true to a true JAG lawyer then every show would be about sailors gone AWOL. Instead we see lawyer life, subs, carriers, destroyers, marines, terrorists and all sorts of cool explosions, we also see Catherine Bell, all up it equals the best show on TV. I just wish here in Aus that ch7 would just stop screwing the fans over.

NCIS is also good, we see all the cool stuff, the witty lines, and Sasha Alexander, not as good as its older brother, but still awesome Television.

Hmmmm looks like David James Elliott is leaving the show at the end of this season:
