passive fish

Gentlemen,

I must confess that I NEVER use passive fish. Under what circumstances should I be doing so?

Attacking surface ships. I've found they're quite effective for going right after the carrier (the loudest contact). Argh Also, they have less warning since they won't be detecting pings.

Surface ships are the primary use for passive torpedoes.

Against subs they are mostly ineffective, especially against slow and deep subs. However, if you can have him hold high speed in shallow waters, the passive might just kill him. If nothing else, knowing a passive is in the water his options for speed is limited.

Limiting his choices is also limiting the number of ways he can live...
