Is there anything like a chart of stats for SCXIIc?
I'd love to be able to look at something and see what the quietest sub in the game is at 15 knots, and then look at 5 knots, and so on. Maximum depths, speeds, sonar strength, is the active sonar good out to 3nm or 4? etc. |

I'm not sure of the official stats mate, but I think the Collins is way up there for quiteness... |

Especially when it's welded to the pier! |

Actually I thought they became extremely quiet only when they were resting on the bottom
cheers, jsteed |

The SC Tac manual has all the stats you're looking for. |

I know that of the non-scu playable subs, the seawolf is the quietest of them. A pointer for this sort of "investigation" is that there is a single number for noisyness for each platform in SC, called "noise emission" in scedit. I don't know how it uses speed when calculating the "actual" sound level. It's possible that the number is used as a final multiplier, to something (non-proportional) based on the speed.
My best guess is something like noise = (db + speed*x*constant)*db
Where x is some concoction using any to all of tpk, #blades, and similar variables. Also, there is the sensitivity to frequencies to be counted in, but that is sensor-specific.
The noise level of the seawolf is at (with scx2c) 56. For reference, the 688i and the akula2 is 57 and akula1i is 5
Anyway, I found the following oddity:
Kilo NE:62 TPK:10 Blades:6
SW NE:56 TPK:9 Blades:10
And tested it:
Scenario: Deep water (atlantic), bottom limited
Tracker contacts: (range is for the beginning of the scenario)
I: Kilo, 0 knots, 200 feet, 5.6nm
J: Seawolf, 0 knots, 200 feet, 5.6nm
K: Kilo, 5 knots, 200 feet, 5.6nm
L: Seawolf, 5 knots, 200 feet, 5.6nm
I can't do the screenshot here right now, but suffice to say that J and L are only visible on the LTA. (This test was broadband only)
The sensor in use was the 'default' towed array on the SW.
In other words, the kilo SS is a lot more noisy than the Seawolf SSN. This sounds like a glitch in SCX to me.
I think, that in the stock SC, the NE of SW was around 70, with the increments to 688i and akula being +2 instead of +1. |

I only see speeds and depths in the apendix, no info on noise generation or sensor power. |

Sorry Pillar. I should have said it had some of the stats you were looking for (max depths, speeds, cavitation charts). |
