Greetings all!

I've loved visiting the subsim site for about 6 months now but now that I have been experiencing a problem I thought it would be be best to register and ask the masters.

I have installed SCX II onto Sub Command and LOVE the realism!

I started playing the 688I campaign and I get to the TLAM mission. I am ordered to only launch 4 TLAMs and hit the airport and the SAM site.

I have tried EVERYTHING to finish this mission and I cannot progress. The airport simply cannot be destroyed with anything short of a tactital nuclear stirke! Stare t

I even overloaded my stores with TLAMs once and fired about 22 at the airbase with no affect. All I get is in indication on the status screen that it has been damaged. The mission simply will not end!

Please tell me what I need to do to get passed this. I really am anxious to try to hunt down the Typhoon in the next mission.

In SCX the TLAM's warhead has been reduced to avoid the massive blast area that it had in default SC.

Make sure you have placed the final waypoint for the missile directly on the airport and you allow several seconds between missile launches or set the waypoints so they arrive at staggered times because when one goes off it can destroy some of the trailing missiles.

If all else fails open up the database with the editor and up the TLAM's warhead.

This demand for accuracy has one signigicant problem: When you are only given a set of coordinates, you won't hit close enough (unless luck, in which case you should rather have been spending that luck at a casino...). So, without the "auto-detect" setting, you can just plain forget hitting it. (Or saturate the area, which would have the same general result as the big splash)

(Alternately, could it be made to do the terminal phase with homing? I seem to remember some source telling it could do some IR/visual homing before detonating?)

If you type in the coordinates when setting up the missiles it is easier.

Place the missile waypoint on the coordinates you have been given and then in FC screen look what it says in the TLAM panel for the coordinates...even if the numbers are correct tweak them by moving them up one digit and then back to the correct ones.

Hope it makes sense..

I know of that trick... but that still depends on the target being placed at the same place in the 'square' that the target is located.

I had a problem with that in the minelaying mission (right before I think) I set the correct coordinates, but it stopped before it came to the goal area, presumably at the same coordinates, so I had to launch a new one.

In the Akula campaign land attack mission, I was having the same problem. Out of curiosity, I looked the mission over using the Mission Editor, and found that the actual coordinates of the airbase and SAM site were different from the coordinates given in the briefing!!! The difference was not great, but once I started sending LAMs towards the actual coordinates, I could destroy both targets.

IIRC, I fixed the coordinates problems in the Akula campaign when I revised it for SCX. However, there seems to be some problems I've missed so feel free to let me know if you find more. It would help having more testers to find the little stuff. Yep
I know it's still tough to be right on target with all the missiles in the mod.. keep trying! Very Happy
