Since DW is designed to have "crews" and/or team mates working separate platforms has anyone established a TS (or other software) server for comm? |

I am aware of two sites that have/will have Teamspeak available for its members for online DW playing.
Biohazcentral http://www.biohazcentral.com/ has a teamspeak server set up for its members.
Smuook's Orion Warrior http://www.orionwarrior.com/ will have a teamspeak server set up for its members. |

For small games with up to 8 players, you can download the server for ventrilo from www.ventrilo.com I have it running on my second PC, takes hardly any CPU or bandwidth, i offered it to the Beta team to use it, but I guess the got bigger fish to use.
When DW is out, i'll use it for the games to play with all you guys here (hopefully). |

Jamie was saying that they used programs like Roger Wilco for COMMS purposes in the game, but there will be no comms feature in the game itself.

This was SCS's intention, why compete if there is perfectly good and practical Third Party alternatives, that many people would use anyway? |

Do keep away from Roger Wilco: security problems + abandoned make for a bad combination. |

You can't enforce, but comm's are not for submerged subs I think.
I never liked the opportunity that you could chat while submerged, better is only when the floatingwire is surfaced or the radio antenna is up.
Els it's not realistic. |

Nobody forces you to type anything without the antenna up. At that, I don't remember the messages the others type being visible until you pressed that button either.
Not that anyone else would have to restrict themselves like that if they don't want to. |

Imagine a FFG with you on the rudder, and two opposing subs.
They can share data without coming to the surface. |

They can do that anyway. Teamspeak or whatever.
If the game enforces it, AND it is the only thing used, it will have the effect you desire.
But the latter part is hard to enforce. |
