Since the beta test phase will soon begin i think it's in order to gather some basic statistics Wink

Before you choose "Commander" consider for a second the amount of responsibility you choose :pirate:

Aren'T you all that, in a way? and can't you tailore the game options that way that you are allowed to do just one of these, leaving the others to the AI mostly (in SC you can)? And what statistics you talk of?

To separate Sonar and TMA could cause lots of trouble when passing the informations from one station to the other.
Sonar will have to tell what sierra need to be merged, what is the ID of the contact, and what is the speed of the contact
As these informations don't come at the same time, you could have lots of problem with passing correctly the data.

Imagine :
Sonar says ->
ok, you need to merge S1 and S5, I don't know yet what is this contact, hold on.
merge S2 and S9, probably an ennemy military surface ship, need confirmation, hold on ...
I have S4 on the 3rd contact but still no tracker on spherical array
etc ...
Quite hard to manage ... and certainly lots of errors this way.

As everything for a good TMA need to come from sonar, I think the best crew for a sub is this one (3 crew members, including the commander) :

Commander :
Ship Control
Periscope
Radio/ESM
Stadimeter
Ice Display

WSO
Fire Control
RADAR
Bridge View (SAM Launcher)
Sonar - Active Intercept
Sonar - Active

Sonar & TMA
Sonar - Broadband
Sonar - Narrowband
Sonar - Demon
Sonar - SSP
TMA

WSO will handle the "instant position" sensor, for snapshot fire
and can watch active intercept to give to sonar the bearing to investigate.

Sonar will handle all passive sonar and the TMA to make it way more easier to manage. Anyway, someone only on TMA will be boring a lot during a game ... TMA is easy if you have all what you need from sonar.

commander will have ESM for instant ID and because WSO will handle the SAM system ->
commander : ESM contact, ASW helo bearing 090 ->
WSO : looking 090 to acquire target
and commander can concentrate on the ship manoeuver (for fast dive for example) when WSO is on the deck

I think this way everyone will have separate, interesting and complete job, and don't risk to sleep during the game, waiting for something to do

This is the way we (mille sabords) are going to start to manage the subs.
